Personal Independence Payment (PIP) is a non-means-tested benefit for adults of working age with a long-term health condition or disability. It's scored across 12 activities: 10 for daily living (like preparing food, washing, taking medication, engaging with others) and 2 for mobility (planning journeys, moving around). The Department for Work and Pensions decides your rate based on how much help you need. You can get either component or both. Many PIP decisions are overturned on appeal — if you're turned down, a welfare adviser can help you challenge the decision.
