The Disabled Persons Railcard saves 1/3 off most adult rail fares across Great Britain — for both the cardholder AND a travelling companion. It works on Anytime, Off-Peak and Advance fares (some Advance restrictions on TOC by TOC basis).
Cost (April 2026 prices): - £20 for 1 year - £54 for 3 years (3-year saves £6)
Which tickets the discount applies to: - Anytime tickets — full 1/3 off - Off-Peak tickets — full 1/3 off - Advance tickets — discount applies but availability is limited - Sleeper services — 1/3 off the rail fare element - London Overground, Caledonian Sleeper, GB Eurostar — 1/3 off
Who qualifies — receive any of: - PIP (any rate, daily living or mobility) - DLA (any rate, care or mobility) - Adult Disability Payment (Scotland) - Child Disability Payment (Scotland) - Attendance Allowance / Pension Age Disability Payment - Severe Disablement Allowance - War Pensioners' Mobility Supplement / Constant Attendance Allowance - Armed Forces Independence Payment - Registered visually impaired or hard of hearing (with proof from the local authority) - Have epilepsy and have had seizures recently OR take anti-convulsant medication - Have a vehicle exempt from Vehicle Excise Duty due to disability
The card is widely accepted but doesn't cover London Underground, buses or trams (different schemes for those).
