Attendance Allowance is a weekly payment for people over State Pension age who need help with personal care or supervision to stay safe. It is not means-tested — savings and income do not affect entitlement. Rates depend on whether help is needed during the day, at night, or both. You can use the money however you like: paying for a carer, grab rails, taxi fares, a cleaner, or anything else that helps you keep your independence. Applying does not affect other benefits, and in many cases it unlocks a higher Pension Credit or Council Tax Reduction.
